Movement + Environment

Behind the first week # devtober.

We are delighted to be taking part in this truly unique game jam! Our team strives to show all their best skills, to use all their will so that the game improves every day.

First week. Only 3 days.

Our first week (we'll introduce a Monday countdown) showed us a lot of weaknesses in our concept. Therefore, we first decided how to painlessly remove the gaps and make instead of them not a leaky body, but a new body made of steel. We had to change the player's actions, add more static and dynamic obstacles.

First day

We worked on:

  •  The basic movement and jumping mechanics of the character.
  • Collisions with obstacles.

Also, we thought about what would be cool if the player could destroy obstacles without dying, but simply changing direction.

Second day

Finally, hands reached out to the assets. We decided to add some life to the scene and worked on the lvl design.

  •  We made panels from which the track will be assembled.
  •  Added environment models to the panels. Agree, the voxel looks very juicy! Optimized motion algorithms.
  • And went on Saturday rest ;)

Third day

I like Sunday most of all, I always have a lot of inspiration on this particular day! How else, we did so much that day!
We added:

  • The camera, you can already see how it works, but this is not the final solution. We have something to improve in it.
  • We did the generation of the tracks. Yes, while there is no rotation of some panels and there is no physics on some of the environment models placed on the panels.

However, already now you can watch how the tracks are generated, because our beautiful camera moves behind the player

That's it today! Thank you for the attention. We will continue, work, improve, optimize, implement and test!
Your review would help us!
