Generation of tracks and movement VOL 2

Impression from 2 weeks

Last week we shared our impressions of taking part in such an amazing jam. Today we will share our impressions of development. Let's go through the most interesting details.

Second week. Happy days!

The second week would be invigorating for our team. You know, it was hard every day to find a little time for development, and even for setting up some object on the stage. Yes, one day we came out with absolutely no content and even the post on Twitter was terrible. But it made us stronger!

Now we have:

  •  A full-fledged generation of tracks,
  •  Automatic movement of the character + his control.
  •  A small soundtrack and
  •  An interface panel displaying the number of points.

AAAA week!!!!

Consider only those days when we had something to brag about. I will briefly describe the rest of the days at the end.

Day 6

We worked on:

  • Created a variety of game panels  + made tracks from them
  • Optimization
  • Add Camera

It was interesting to see how you can make the game more interesting just by changing a couple of panels in the track. We went to sleep for more than one hour!

Day 7

On this day, I had to set up the camera. There are just no parameters. I will highlight the main:

  • Zoom. You can move in and out depending on whether your character is standing or running.
  • Staggering. If you just stand there. Then the camera does not stand still, but stagerring a little near you
  • Offset. The camera moves in the direction of your movement

For testing, we even had to create a new scene from empty panels.

Day 9

Generation was successful. Eureka. At first, they did not even believe that they could do an optimized generation algorithm. But you know, we weren't happy for long, we had to change the concept, and with it the generation of tracks.
Added an interface panels on main screen.

Day 10

Last day of the week. We had serious plans for automatic character movement. At first I had to think and draw how it should look on paper (We used Paint) and began to transfer it into the code. At the end of the day, our nice little policeman was already running by himself and just performing some actions with the help of taps.

The rest of the days are 4,5,8.

Added music and optimization. Have thought over some stylistic features of the game. We chose the right assets and soundtrack. Gathered with discord and talked about plans for the arcade. So our second week passed! How did yours go !?

Support us, we can surprise you! Thanks for reading this article to the end!
